The Audience Club is a small, independent London-based audience development company. Theatre producers and venues use the Club to promote new shows and Members who are all keen theatregoers give feedback on new shows. Key worker groups make up the core of our Membership and we actively promote the Club through the NHS "Improving Working Lives" scheme and enable many other Key Worker groups to enjoy performances, very cheaply, in different forms all over Town.
The idea for The Audience Club started in Los Angeles where film extras are paid to be professional "seat-fillers" for the Oscar Ceremonies demonstrating that having a great audience is of paramount importance. In New York, producers and company managers regularly use membership groups to supplement box-office sales both on and off Broadway and now the Club is up and running in London.
Members are actively discovering new theatres on the Fringe and we believe that actors, front of house staff and ticket holders themselves benefit from the ambience that a large audience can generate when regular sales alone are not expected to result in a "Full House". The bigger the audience the more effective the word of mouth promotion and increase of consumer spending in the venue.
